Conditions for Importation of Cats and Dogs

If a country, zone, or compartment is free from rabies according to the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH)
Dogs
  • A health certificate (within 48 hours of importation) is required and must attest that the dog(s):
    • Have been continuously in the country of export for the previous six months, or if less than six months of age, since birth.
    • Was actively immunized against the following diseases:
      • Distemper
      • Hepatitis
      • Leptospirosis
      • Parvovirus
      • Adenovirus
    • Is free of internal parasites as determined by a negative fecal test.
    • Is free of external parasites.
Cats
  • A health certificate (within 48 hours of importation) is required and must attest that the cat(s):
    • Have been continuously in the country of export for the previous six months, or if less than six months of age, since birth.
    • Was actively immunized against the following diseases:
      • Feline Leukemia
      • Feline Rhinotracheitis
      • Feline Calicivirus
      • Feline Panleukopenia
      • Feline Pneumonitis
    • Is free of internal parasites as determined by a negative fecal test.
    • Is free of external parasites.
If a country, zone, or compartment is not free from rabies according to the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH)
Dogs
  • An international veterinary certificate (within 48 hours of importation) is required and must attest that the dog(s):
    • Have been vaccinated against rabies by either:
      • One-year duration vaccine – administered within not more than 10 months and not less than one month prior to importation.
      • Three-year duration vaccine – administered within not more than 34 months and not less than one month prior to importation.
    • Have been continuously in the country of export for the previous six months, or if less than six months of age, since birth.
    • Was actively immunized against the following diseases:
      • Distemper
      • Hepatitis
      • Leptospirosis
      • Parvovirus
      • Adenovirus
      • Coronavirus
    • Is free of internal parasites as determined by a negative fecal test.
    • Is free of external parasites.
Cats
  • An international veterinary certificate (within 48 hours of importation) is required and must attest that the cat(s):
    • Have been vaccinated against rabies by either:
